I have a lot of problems with the AS copy commands.

They do not copy all the information of each part that is copied.

For example if I have an assembly of a small stair that was created with the stair tools and rail tools.  I have to go into the model (or model browser) and change the material and coatings, and sometimes the part prefix and assembly prefix.

I get everything how I want the assembly to look and the data all updated.  Now I copy using AS copy or array tools, renumber, open the model browser and look at the prefixes.  They are all different.  This is in part because of how prefixes are assigned.  (See my compaint in another post.)

So what happens is that if I make an array of 10 copies, I usually end up with 1 assembly quantity of 1 (original copy), 1 assembly quantity of 8, and 1 assembly quantity of 1 (last copy).

No matter how I have tried to edit them the best I can get is 1 and 9 with the original copy being different in some unknown way.

It creates a LOT of copying (more than I need), editing, then deleting the extras to get what I want.

It shouldn't be this hard.

Eric
